Preserving California's Affordable Housing: The MORE Program & How TruBlue Can Help

In California, mobile and manufactured homes serve as essential sources of affordable housing—especially in high-cost areas. However, many of these homes, especially those built before 1976, suffer from aging infrastructure and safety issues due to lack of maintenance and updates.

To address this, Nevada County has launched the state’s Manufactured Housing Opportunity & Revitalization (MORE) program. Funded by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, the MORE program offers grants to homeowners living in mobile home parks who meet income requirements—typically up to 80% of the area median income. The program aims to preserve affordable homes by funding necessary repairs and replacements.

What the MORE Program Covers:

  • Health and safety repairs, such as electrical, plumbing, roofing, or heating system fixes

  • Accessibility upgrades for residents with mobility needs

  • Energy-efficiency enhancements, including better insulation or HVAC systems

  • Full replacement when homes are severely outdated (e.g., built before 1976) or repairs exceed $75,000

Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority for homes flagged for health and safety concerns.
